Climate & Trekking Season

Nepal’s climate is primarily temperate, with some tropical regions. Even on winter days Kathmandu may get up to a pleasant 25 degrees c (75 f). Lightweight clothing is thus necessary for all treks and seasons; Trekking in Nepal can be undertaken through the year. There are four seasons in Nepal. Each season has its distinct attraction to offer. Pack warmer clothes according to season and altitude as recommended in our trip information.

Autumn (Sep-Nov): this season offer excellent weather and tantalizing mountain views. Days are generally sunny and warm, with nights becoming increasingly cool. The early part of the season can still be hot at low elevations, and rain may be possible

Winter (Dec-Feb): This season is noted for occasional snowfall only at higher elevation, and is dry and clear, but particularly at night altitudes it gets colder, down to –10 degrees C (o F)

Trekking Season In Nepal

outdoors or less at night, though sunny days are still pleasantly warm. Hence it is ideal for trekking at bellow 4000 meters.

Spring (March-May): Different varieties of wild flowers, specially the rhododendrons make the hillside above 5000 meters a haunting paradise during this season. It is mildly warm at lower elevations and at higher elevation over 4000 meters the mountain views are excellent and temperature is quite moderate.

Summer (June-Aug): summer month, continues up to mid September making travel wet and warm. These times are blessed for the keen botanist as the higher valleys and meadows blossom with flowers and lush vegetation it is recommended to carry insect repellent when trekking during summer times.
